If you are a maritime professional (any kind), I am sure you have come across "maritime" websites clearly designed by a computer professional without any knowledge or experience of shipping. It is so easy to see from the kind of information supplied on the webpage and the way it is displayed.
Such a website does not inspire any great confidence in the company it represents, or does it ?
Your reputation isn`t anything you can touch, taste, or smell. Your reputation exists only in the mind of the beholder. By increasing your credibility in the minds of your website`s visitors their image of your reputation turns more positive. This happens when the website has been made by somebody who clearly knows what he or she is talking about. Then your website will project a positive image to the world.
If your website, on the other hand, reduces your website visitors` confidence in the professionalism of your personnel, your reputation will suffer. Often a visitor leaves a badly made website with a negative image of the website, your company, and your products or services. Sure you don`t want that, do you?

I am a retired European Master Mariner, BS, with 45 years of world-wide work experience in the maritime sector, including shore based (management) and onboard (Senior Officer). This covers almost everything except fishing boats and submarines. Since 1976 I have been living and working with Asians in Asia. Therefore I am familiar with both European and Asian cultures, traditions, and values.
My base website (Don Pedro's Shipping Job Links) has received gold awards for excellence in design from three different sources (Asia, UK, and US).
This site received two gold awards when still less than one year old. Probably I am the only Master Mariner in the world with gold awards for webdesign.
Every page on this site can be equally enjoyed in hand held devices, such as Nokia Communicator 9300.
